Questions as to where safety fits within the organization challenge safety professionals on a regular basis. At times it seems we are “outcasts” from our own organizations. But business is not your enemy; rather, there are competing mechanisms at work. Functions that show organizational value by contributing to its success are those that get consistency: it’s how that value demonstrated and communicated that makes the difference.
