Sometimes the direction of our organizations is set by “outside forces.” There is an element of external risk that is pervasive: it’s called competition. Many times this is overlooked; yet, it forces us to change to be relevant in the marketplace. Safety draws a parallel to this type of risk: we are always challenged to show value; show relevance. Safety Professionals know to anticipate this so the processes we implement are ensuring safe organizations, minimized from risk to maintain that competitive edge.
