Focusing solely on areas that are bad/not working well results in the perspective that everything is wrong. Energy is better placed on what is going right and use successes to improve what needs work. Successful businesses know they aren’t perfect, but they do know why they are successful. The same can be said for safety processes: focusing only on where things are wrong results in the “can’t do anything” syndrome. It’s better to recognize what’s going well, why, and engage to continually improve: nothing’s ignored and success is shared.
