It is amazing to me how business owners, of which I fall into that category, truly view human resources (yes, employees are resources) as an expense only. In reality, employees are an investment, and a great way to protect that investment is to have a safety process that reduces risk to them. The enemy of efficiency, productivity and profitability is the lack of safety. As I’ve told business owners many times over the years, “Try to run your business without employees and see how far you get.” An investment intelligently thought out with risk control yields the best results.
