In business, the perfect company is rarely the successful company. Focusing on perfection can take attention away from customers, thus alienating the marketplace. In safety, the concern about perfection is the potential devastating consequences. However, the opportunity for “safe” risk to exist allows the safety system to be flexible, learning to adapt to changes needed for improvement as the organization continues forward.
