When organizations lose their way, it’s usually due to the pursuit of a “good idea” that is off-topic. Resources get refocused and the core of the business suffers. While capabilities are available to make it happen, if it isn’t part of purpose, then it’s difficult to achieve. For safety, focusing on purpose of risk reduction, hazard control and overall effectiveness for the business is what it’s about. That doesn’t mean we don’t try innovative ideas as long as they remain on task.
