“Stubborn, Yet Flexible”

May 11, 2018

If you’re not stubborn, you’ll give up on experiments too soon. And if you’re not flexible, you’ll pound your head against the wall and you won’t see a different solution to a problem you’re trying to solve.”

-Jeff Bezos

Plan, look under every rock, and make sure all the ‘t’s are crossed and ‘i’s are dotted: that’s the key to success… or so we think. If you look at the history of successful people, you’ll find all of them aren’t afraid to fail; rather, they learn from failure. Think about this regarding your success as a safety professional: rarely do perfectly planned safety systems work right out of the box. Instead, they reflect drive and adaptability: those are the keys of success in safety.
